Scenario

You need to deploy a web application that only receives traffic when it's ready to serve requests.

Task

Create a pod with an HTTP readiness probe that checks if the service is responding on port 80 at path /.

Step 1: Generate pod template

kubectl run web-ready --image=nginx:latest --dry-run=client -o yaml > pod.yaml

Step 2: Edit pod.yaml to add readinessProbe

Add under containers[0]:

    readinessProbe:
      httpGet:
        path: /
        port: 80

Step 3: Apply and verify

kubectl apply -f pod.yaml
kubectl describe pod web-ready | grep -A5 "Readiness"
