Convert Remote from HTTPS to SSH

You have a Git repository at /home/interview/repo where the remote origin is currently configured with an HTTPS URL (https://github.com/user/repo.git).

Task:

Change the remote URL from HTTPS to SSH and verify the connection.

Example:

# Before (using HTTPS)
$ git remote -v
origin  https://github.com/user/repo.git (fetch)
origin  https://github.com/user/repo.git (push)

# After (using SSH)
$ git remote -v
origin  [email protected]:user/repo.git (fetch)
origin  [email protected]:user/repo.git (push)

Step 1: Navigate to the repository

cd /home/interview/repo

Navigate to the Git repository.

Step 2: Check current remote configuration

git remote -v

See the current HTTPS URLs for origin.

Step 3: Update remote to use SSH

git remote set-url origin [email protected]:user/repo.git

Change the remote URL from HTTPS to SSH.

Step 4: Verify the URL changed

git remote -v

Should now show SSH URLs (git@...).
